My use of the pen is for drawing. As I do Watercolour/Ink work. This is to save me from having to carry ink and dipping pen around. I like it, but find it a bit scratchy.. on certain paper it works well. Would love it if you had a set of nibs, especially a very thin but ‘squared off’ one on the top!
The flexibility of the nib is very nice. I like the pen, in general. However, when I leave the pen for awhile the ink won’t flow to the tip of the nib. I have to take the pen apart and actuate the plunger to force ink down to the nib. Then I have to wipe the excess ink off of the nib. I’ve considered going back to my croquill dip pen. It works every time. The reason I bought the pens is so I could take them with me. But alas, that doesn’t seem feasible.
It's a good quality Jinhao pen with a G nib which fits very tightly on the feed. With its normal nib it's a good, free flowing pen, but using Platinum Carbon Black fountain pen ink, the ink did not flow well with the G nib. I had to often turn the converter knob to feed more ink down to the nib. The pen would draw for a minute or so then need re-priming. The pen was okay in a pinch when I needed to work with a dip pen nib on location, other than that I wouldn't use it. I need the waterproof quality of the Platinum ink in my fountain pens, but others may try a dye-based ink which might flow better.
