Add sweeping strokes and tapers to your writing with the Flexy Nib Fountain Pen. The secret to its distinctive writing lies in its equally distinctive nib. Resembling the beak of a falcon, the nib flexes more easily than a normal nib, resulting in line variation reminiscent of traditional brush and point pen calligraphy. It's perfect for adding a sophisticated flair to your everyday writing and for creating beautiful calligraphy without the hassle of using a dip pen.

From nib to barrel, the finished product is a beautiful balance of form and function that demonstrates our commitment to outstanding craftsmanship. You unscrew the barrel of the pen and stick the nib down in the ink bottle and turn the cartridge and it draws the ink up.

Ink flow

The flexibility of the nib is very nice. I like the pen, in general. However, when I leave the pen for awhile the ink won’t flow to the tip of the nib. I have to take the pen apart and actuate the plunger to force ink down to the nib. Then I have to wipe the excess ink off of the nib. I’ve considered going back to my croquill dip pen. It works every time. The reason I bought the pens is so I could take them with me. But alas, that doesn’t seem feasible.

Only okay

It's a good quality Jinhao pen with a G nib which fits very tightly on the feed. With its normal nib it's a good, free flowing pen, but using Platinum Carbon Black fountain pen ink, the ink did not flow well with the G nib. I had to often turn the converter knob to feed more ink down to the nib. The pen would draw for a minute or so then need re-priming. The pen was okay in a pinch when I needed to work with a dip pen nib on location, other than that I wouldn't use it. I need the waterproof quality of the Platinum ink in my fountain pens, but others may try a dye-based ink which might flow better.

It is like what was advertised! Very flexible nib, weight of pen is heavy for good control and colour if pen is like what's shown in pic, very classy.

Calligraphy pen

Writing with the pen is good, but I find filling it with ink quite difficult. More ink on my hands than in the pen! Perhaps more practice is required?

It surprise me!

This calligraphy pen is a very good alternative to the other pricy option that easily costs you over $200. Given enough practice, I found the pen's (nicely) back weighted design actually helps "bounce" the nib when writing, The nib is a bit scratchy but I used Myron paper to smooth it out a bit and it doesn't bother me anymore. It offers very good flex and the flex is responsive as well! At this price range I must say I have no major complain at all. Just note that you should use ink like Monteverde with ink treatment technology (ITF), or similar kind that will help the ink flow. The "white" color one is actually like ivory color which is exactly what I wanted. Only one minor issue though: the clip was slanted to the left, not completely straight and the twine is actually slightly off. If the quality control can be tighten up a bit to fix all these issues: scratchiness, clip, twine alignment, this pen can easily be the affordable grail pen for any fountain pen lover.
